The Trucks Before Departure: Toyota 4Runner

Clearing Skies on Highway 99 Near Lilloet
|
Upon returning from Vancouver Island, we spent the following day
loading all of our gear into the trucks. Once the luggage, tents,
fishing poles, and the rest of our equipment was loaded we left
Vancouver and headed north. We decided to take the scenic Sea to
Sky highway that meanders along the coast of Howe Sound, eventually
climbing into the Coast Mountains. We stopped for a picnic lunch
in the resort town of Whistler. Once finished, we continued through
fog and rain on Highway 99. The road turned inland and the weather
improved. As we drove through the town of Lilloet the skies began
to clear.

Lunch at Dairy Queen
|
We pulled into 100 Mile House at six, hungry and a bit weary. We
decided to introduce the Dutch to a Canadian dining institution;
Dairy Queen! Less than impressed, the Dutch declared the dining
experience at McDonald's far superior than at Dairy Queen. Appalled,
we left for Quesnel.

Aren Driving The 4Runner
|
Aren took the wheel and drove the rest of the way. Except for a
freak thunderstorm that last only about ten minutes, the weather
was beautiful and the drive picturesque. Nearly twelve hours after
our departure we arrived at Uncle Bob's farm in Quesnel, exhausted
and ready to introduce Aren to Uncle Bob's bottle of Gibson's.
